Of One Who Was Destined for Better Things
It's the first day of the week and I can't believe that I'm
feeling oh-so-good after everything that happened for the past few days.
There's no doubt that I woke up at the right side of my bed! The first thing I
did was to grab the first book I saw on my bedside table - Lang Leav's Love and
Misadventure. It has always been my thing to flip the pages of a particular
book, randomly stop at a certain page and read anything written on it. For this
morning, I landed at page 107 of L&A:
Swan Song
"Her heart is playedlike well-worn strings;in her eyes, the sadness sings,of one who was destinedfor better things."
I found myself reading the last two lines over and over
again. "...Of one who was destined for better things."
It was a reminder that we should never settle for anything
less. We always deserve more. While it may be good to make compromises, we must
not forget that in the eyes of God and the people who truly love us, we are
precious. We must not be taken for granted. We must not let anyone bring us down
nor make us uncomfortable in every situation.
As we live this life, we meet different people who could
affect us in so many ways. There are those who are willing to bring the sun and
moon together just to make us happy while some never get tired of bringing us
more reasons to be sad. Oftentimes, we prefer to share some of our days with
the latter. To be honest, I don't get it. It seems like we are addicted to the
feeling of sadness. We know it's not working and that we're hurting but at the
end of the day, we choose to stay. Why?
Maybe it's time that we remind ourselves that we are
destined for better things.. for the best things.
Stop trying so hard. Stop making things work. If it's time
to walk away, then we should gather our strengths and leave everything behind.
Just because we're choosing to walk away doesn't mean that we're weak.
Sometimes, it's just the best thing to do so we can find the happiness we've
lost along the way.
Remember what they say, don't look for happiness in the same
place you lost it.
